Dr. Lisa Dauten

Founder, DVM

Dr. Lisa Dauten graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University in May of 2017. Prior to her professional education, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut in 2013. After finishing her schooling, Dr. Lisa was a full time large animal veterinarian in Franklin, Clinton, and St. Lawrence Counties in Northern New York, where she worked primarily with dairy cattle. Most recently, Dr. Lisa worked full time with Housatonic Veterinary Care in Cornwall Bridge, CT where she worked with all creatures, both large and small.

Dr. Lisa’s primary interests are in dairy production medicine and consultation. She is a Food Armor accredited veterinarian and can certify farms in the Food Armor program to promote judicious antibiotic use and residue avoidance on farm. Along with dairy production medicine, Dr. Lisa is experienced with beef cow-calf and small ruminant production. She was the recipient of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners Foundation Award in 2016 and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners Amstutz Award and Student Recognition Award in 2015. In May of 2017, she also received the Excellence in Bovine Veterinary Medicine Award from the Indiana Veterinary Medicine Association for her interest and proficiency in bovine medicine and surgery.

Dr. Lisa grew up in Litchfield, Connecticut. She spent most of her youth raising dairy cattle, beef cattle, and swine in 4-H. She was very active in her 4-H community and FFA chapters growing up and would greatly like to give back to these programs that helped to get to where she is today. Dr. Lisa is licensed and accredited in CT, MA, and NY and is taking on new clients and patients of all large animal species.

Dr. Allyson Patterson

Dr. Allyson Patterson is originally from North Carolina, where she grew up riding horses and raising beef cattle. She received a Bachelor’s in Animal Science from NC State University in 2017 and stayed at NCSU for veterinary school, graduating with a DVM in 2022. Allyson then went on to complete a Food Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at the University of Missouri. Her professional interests include dairy medicine, herd health, and client education.

Dr. Allyson has taken her passion for livestock health to a global level, as she has worked on a goat farm in Haiti during kidding season and in Kenya educating processing plant employees about zoonotic disease. Dr. Allyson is a supporter of the One Health initiative and the role veterinary medicine plays in ensuring not only the health of animals but also people and our planet. She is excited to work with our clients to ensure the health of their livestock and horses while facilitating the judicious use of resources and preservation of our environment.

During her time as a student, Dr. Allyson’s excellence in livestock medicine was recognized at the highest level. She was the recipient of the W. Bruce Wren Food Animal Incentive Award in February of 2023, the BI Bovine Health Award in Preventative Medicine in April of 2022, the AABP Foundation-Zoetis Scholarship in May of 2021, the AABP Amstutz Scholarship in May of 2020, and the AABP Bovine Veterinary Student Recognition Award in May of 2020.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Allyson enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, cooking, live music, and stand-up comedy. She’s excited to join the team at Tri-State Vet and explore all that Connecticut has to offer!

Emily graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College in May of 2022 with her Associate of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology. Emily enjoys practicing small and large animal medicine. Her favorite aspects include surgery and emergency medicine. Emily’s passion for animals began at the age of 4 after getting her first miniature horse and miniature donkey as a birthday present. In her free time, Emily likes spending time with her friends and family, working with her alpacas, donkeys, and miniature horses, and training with her horse, Stitch.

Ryan Duncan

Animals big and small have always been a huge part of Ryan’s life, especially companion animals and horses from growing up with and around these animals. After attending Housatonic Valley Regional High School where she was an active member and officer in the FFA and agriscience program, Ryan attended UConn and graduated with her Associates of Applied Science in Animal and Equine Science in 2021, and her Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science with a concentration in Equine Sports Rehabilitation in 2023. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Ryan is very excited to be the newest addition to our team!

Maggie Llewellyn

Receptionist

Maggie has been working with horses and livestock since she was eight years old. After graduating from Torrington High School, Maggie began working in a small animal hospital gaining valuable insight and experience. When the pandemic began, Maggie transitioned to working for blood drives for the American Red Cross as a phlebotomist. When she found out she was expecting her son Lucas, Maggie came to us at Tri-State as our receptionist. Maggie enjoys cooking and baking as well as going on hikes with her dogs and spending time with our favorite office member, baby Lucas.
